For many people, this was a rough year. As a world, we slid backwards in a number of ways. A lot of great people moved on. Big challenges loom.
I had a pretty good year though... a few highlights:
In January, I started atsu, and over the next few months found some amazing co-founders. 🔥
In February, Momo turned 8 and had her first sleepover birthday party. 🥰👩🏻
In March, we flew to Boise for a Taekwondo tournament, and had a fun mini-vacation as well. 🛫🥋
In April, Momo and I danced in our 3rd Daddy Daughter Dance. 💃🏻🕺🏻
In May, Nate and I managed to run - and even enjoy - another 50k. 🏃🏻♂️
In June, my parents visited us for several weeks, and we enjoyed the start of a beautiful summer. ☀️
In July, while in Japan, Eriko surprised me for our 13th anniversary by booking the children into a weekend camp. 💑
In August, I turned 40! 🎉
In September, the Kirsch brothers and their families enjoyed a wonderful weekend retreat - and now we have the Spa Story at Seabrook. 💩
In October, my mom and dad relocated to our neighborhood, and we are glad they are choosing to spend their twilight years near us. 👵🏻👴🏻
In November, Livia and I spent several days talking with old friends and new, being both delighted and humbled by the reception. 🤓
In December, we were fortunate to gather together as family, all 21 of us. ✨
At the same time, this year was challenging for my routine. The pace of home and work increased, the family sleeping routines changed, and I picked up a few injuries. I leave 2018 struggling to obtain the same efficiency I had entering the year - and my stats show it.
That said, I’m fully invested in my habits, and I no longer worry if I’m pursuing the right areas, while still giving myself the space to wonder if I can find better things to focus on. That doesn’t mean I’m applying them all consistently, but I’m largely done with the debate.
This year, it’s all about rolling up my sleeves, and getting shit done.
Happy New Year!
